I always want the Wallabies to win but, in today’s World Cup Final, it’s for completely different reasons.

I’ve only been on board for the past eight weeks, but this squad has been building to this moment for a lot longer than that.

They are determined, driven, focussed and prepared for this match and I want them to win for themselves, for the nation and for the jersey they have so effectively restored pride in.

As a journalist, impartiality is very important to me, but today I proudly wear my heart on my sleeve and the Wallaby on my chest. I’ve never been so emotionally invested in covering an event.

The week of looking determined on dark moody backgrounds is over – now it’s time to perform – time to win a World Cup Final.

Set your alarm – get out of bed and watch your team – because you can be sure they will do you proud.

Car’n the Wallabies!
